**Torgar Earthshaker** is the god of earth and stone — one of the [[The Pantheon|Seven Divines]] of [[Elandis]], patron of endurance, craft, and the steadfast. His relic is **Grumbar's Fist**, a gauntlet of unbreakable stone said to command the living rock.
## Overview
Torgar Earthshaker holds the sphere of earth among the [[The Pantheon|Seven Divines]], his portfolio spanning the ground underfoot, the mountains, the ore in the dark, and the more abstract qualities that stone has always stood for — endurance, permanence, and the stubborn refusal to yield. His relic, **Grumbar's Fist**, is said to have been wielded in the war that ended the old world; its name is used in prayer and oath throughout the mountain holds — *by Grumbar's Fist* is the common swear of the north — though most who say it have long since lost sight of it as a name at all. His chief seat of worship is the [[Stoneheart]] of [[Val Noren]], a great temple hewn from the living rock of the city.
## Worship
### The Stoneoath
Kept above all on **Earthday** and in the mountain holds: masons, miners, and smiths bless the week's labour in the Earthshaker's name, and binding oaths are sworn *on stone* — for an oath made on his day is held to endure as stone endures. It is also the day to lay foundations and to begin work meant to last.
## In Memory & Belief
Torgar is widely worshipped across [[Elandis]], and revered above all in the mountain holds, where the faith of the Earthshaker has always run deepest. Beyond that, little of the deeper history of his worship is recorded in any one place.
## [[The Bloody Nails|Campaign: The Bloody Nails]]
#### [[Session 38 - A Trail of Blood]]
Tracking the kidnapped [[King Marius Noren]] through occupied [[Val Noren]], the party learned the [[Stoneheart]] was the most likely place the King was being held — its prominence in the city making it a natural Imperial stronghold.
#### [[Session 39 - The Stoneheart]]
The party infiltrated the Stoneheart under cover of darkness and witnessed the captive King held before [[Dread General Gerard Blackmarsh]] and a coven of Red Priests, before pursuing him into the catacombs below.
#### [[Session 40 - General Blackmarsh]]
The battle against Blackmarsh and [[Marcelle the Broken]] was fought in the Stoneheart's main chamber, ending with the General's death; the party escaped through the temple's west wing.
#### [[Session 42 - Liberation of Val Noren]]
[[Kai]] inquired about the local faith and learned that Torgar is the primary deity of [[Val Noren]] — the Earthshaker's temple at the centre of city life even under occupation.
#### [[Session 43 - The Shield of the North]]
Brother Calem — a devoted follower of the Earthshaker — was persuaded by [[Kai]]'s display of divine power to allow Selûne's rites to be taught to his acolytes, one faith making room for another within the Stoneheart's walls.
