**Shar**, the Lady of Vengeance, is counted — by the vanishingly few who count her at all — among the **Gods of Old**, the deities of the age before the [[The Pantheon|Seven Divines]]. Of all those forgotten powers she is the most deeply lost: she left no temple, no faith, and almost no memory behind her, and what the world retains of her amounts to little more than a name on the lesser moon and the shape superstition gives to spite.
## Overview
Almost nothing is known of Shar. She belongs to the elder age before the Seven, when the world holds that older gods still kept their spheres openly — but where some of those gods survive at least as a scholar's footnote, Shar barely survives at all. No order has ever prayed to her, no temple has carried her name, and she appears in no common myth or campfire tale. What little clings to the name is association rather than knowledge: vengeance, spite, and the dark — the impulses mortals would rather not own, gathered under a name almost no one remembers to speak.
## In Memory & Belief
To call Shar forgotten rather overstates how much there ever was to forget. The world keeps no worship of her and barely a memory. The most that survives is the **lesser moon, Sha**, which carries her name though no one alive can say why — and beneath that, a thin thread of superstition that names no goddess at all: the half-held belief that spite and vengeance and small, pointless cruelties answer to *something*, some dark turn in the weave of the world that rewards the worst in people. Whether that something has a name, the common folk never think to ask. Of all the Gods of Old, none has left a fainter mark upon the world that once knew them.
## Trivia
- The lesser moon, **Sha**, is the only place in the waking world her name still survives — and to those who track its phases night after night, it is no more than a word.
- Of all the Gods of Old, Shar left the faintest trace of any: not a temple, not a tale, only a borrowed name on a moon.
