From the outside it is a derelict three-storey building like any other in a poor quarter — which is precisely the point. Behind the boarded windows and disguised doors lies a warm, well-furnished sanctuary where dozens of the city's orphans are fed, sheltered, and kept out of sight. ## Location & Geography The Den sits in the northern, run-down district of [[Camaar]], among the kind of decrepit, forgettable buildings a city watch never bothers to search. It is a three-storey structure, deliberately maintained to look dilapidated: boarded windows, weather-worn timber, and a back door that appears broken and rotted but in fact opens cleanly. Entry is by that disguised rear door, or through concealed hatches on the second and third floors. A stranger who knocks at the front is met by a child who vanishes inside; an unseen old voice decides whether they are let any further. ## A Sanctuary Within The interior is the opposite of the shell. Past the threshold, the Den opens into polished wood, good furniture, and a well-stocked kitchen — an opulence that has startled more than one visitor expecting a hovel. The upper two floors hold the children's living quarters, play areas, and escape routes; the ground floor belongs to [[Ellesar]], the wheelchair-bound elder who founded the Cubs and can no longer manage stairs, with his room beside the main dining hall. Supplies are plentiful and shared fairly, and the warmth of the place — children, games, a low table set for a contest — reflects the home its founder always meant it to be. ## [[The Bloody Nails|Campaign: The Bloody Nails]] #### [[Session 09 - The Veiled Den]] After a sting operation drew out the orphan pickpockets who had lifted their gold, the party chased and captured a young boy who — under the threat of [[Ryo]]'s *Hunter's Mark* — led them to the Den. Expecting a hovel, they were shocked to step through a dilapidated facade into an opulent sanctuary, and were welcomed by [[Ellesar]] with a knowing smile. #### [[Session 10 - The Coastal Cave]] In the deceptive comfort of the Den, [[Ellesar]] returned the party's stolen gold with interest and offered them a contract: escort his most talented protégé, [[Lia]], north to [[Val Miriel]]. They accepted in principle but delayed, agreeing on a secret signal to summon the Cubs when ready to leave. #### [[Session 17 - A New Journey Begins]] With Imperial pressure mounting on [[Camaar]], the party returned to the Den, where [[Ellesar]] formally entrusted [[Lia]] to their care and directed them to deliver her to the [[Order of Ravens]] in [[Val Miriel]].
