Every Nexus citadel, glowing aqueduct, and bridge of solidified light in Sumara is the Loom's work — not merely built but woven, stone and glass shaped by magic into the living architecture of the last great elven city. ## Purpose & Goals The Circle of the Loom tends everything the city is made of. Its remit spans construction and maintenance of buildings, bridges, and aqueducts; the enchantment of structural stone and glass; and the operation of the seven Nexus citadels — the great floating fortresses each Circle calls home. Where the other Circles govern people, law, or knowledge, the Loom governs the city itself: the condition of its walls, the flow of its waterways, the integrity of its wards' physical anchors. In a hundred years of isolation, with no new stone arriving from the Material Plane, they have become experts in the rare minerals and living materials of the [[Faewild]], bending its volatile resources into permanent form. ## Structure & Leadership The Circle is led by its Meridian, **[[Master Artisan Fenian]]**, a consummate perfectionist who regards the whole of Sumara as a single ongoing work of art — one that can always be refined, never truly finished. He sits on the [[Sumara, The Shining City#The Confluence of the Seven|Confluence of the Seven]] as the Circle's voice on matters of city-wide governance. The Loom's craftspeople work closely with two populations of the [[Sumara, The Shining City#The Fundament Canton — (Loom)|Fundament Canton]]: **Korreds** — stout, stone-skinned fae with a deep affinity for shaped stone — serve as specialist collaborators on structural enchantment, while **Fungrals**, the cheerful mushroom-capped folk of the lower cantons, provide much of the physical labour. This three-way partnership of elven enchanters, Korred stoneworkers, and Fungral hands has built everything in Sumara that stands. ## The Fundament Canton The Circle seats itself in the **Fundament Canton**, the lowest level of Sumara's caldera, where the Shivering Veil waterfall reaches the valley floor. It is a working district — forge-halls and workshops rather than towers, the air thick with the ring of hammers and the hum of enchantments being set into stone — its walls always under some form of scaffold or geometric measurement mark. Nowhere in Sumara shows more clearly that the city is still being made. The Circle's Nexus is the **[[Architecton]]**: a great building covered in permanent decorative scaffolding and cranes frozen mid-swing, as though the master architect stepped away for a moment and has simply not returned. Among the Circle, this is not an embarrassment but a statement of intent — the city will always have more to become. ## History The Circle of the Loom is as old as Sumara itself, one of the seven orders through which the elven people have always governed their great works. The city's founding in the caldera of the [[Shimmering Peaks]] was, in large part, the Loom's achievement: elves could not have built into a sheer volcanic interior without mastery of enchanted stonework. Every tier, every arching bridge of solidified light, every aqueduct threading the Shivering Veil's flow through the lower cantons was raised under their direction. The Loom works in the materials the [[Faewild]] provides — Starfall Iron, Heartwood-Bound alloys, Moon-Quenched Steel — strange and powerful, but volatile in ways that demanded entirely new bodies of technique to master. Millennia of practice have given the Loom an unmatched command of these materials; the city stands today as proof of that accumulated knowledge. ## [[The Bloody Nails|Campaign: The Bloody Nails]] #### [[Session 46 - The Shining City]] The party visited the **Ironweave**, a forge in the Fundament Canton that works exclusively in Faewild metals — Starfall Iron, Heartwood-Bound, and Moon-Quenched Steel — and met its proprietor, the quiet elven smith Ferethis. #### [[Session 47 - Confluence of the Seven]] At the [[Sumara, The Shining City#The Confluence of the Seven|Confluence of the Seven]], Meridian Fenian was among the council's persuadable voices — cautious and watchful, waiting to see how the debate resolved. He ultimately raised his hand in favour of opening the [[Vault of Memories]], joining four others in a five-to-two result.
