Described by the other Circles as the gentlest of the seven, its physicians, clerics, and alchemists keep the city alive — tending the sick, cultivating Faewild flora, and staffing the botanical infirmaries that have served Sumara without interruption through a century of isolation. ## Purpose & Goals The Circle of the Dawn exists to preserve life and health within [[Sumara, The Shining City|Sumara]]. Its physicians treat the city's sick, its clerics provide spiritual and restorative care, and its alchemists develop remedies drawn from the extraordinary medicinal plants of the [[Faewild]]. Over the century since the Exile, the Circle has built one of the most sophisticated bodies of Faewild botanical knowledge in existence — a necessity in a city cut off from the herbs, roots, and reagents of the Material Plane. The Circle takes no political positions and holds no allegiances beyond Sumara itself. Within the [[Sumara, The Shining City#The Confluence of the Seven|Confluence of the Seven]], it is regarded as the least factional of the seven orders: where others push agendas, the Dawn tends to the city. ## Structure & Leadership The Circle is led by its **Meridian**, currently [[Elder Silaqui Amastacia]] — a soft-spoken, deeply empathetic cleric who rarely leaves the botanical infirmaries and is widely regarded as Sumara's most compassionate public figure. Decisions within the Circle are made gently, by consensus, and Silaqui's manner sets the tone: the Dawn leads with kindness before authority. The Circle's seat is the **Luminary Canton**, occupying the mid-elevation southern slopes of Sumara's caldera — the terraces turned to catch the most light. Its **Nexus**, the [[Luminarium]], is an enormous glass-and-copper conservatory with a domed roof; when it rises aloft, living vines trail beneath it like ribbons and the whole structure glows warm amber. ## Notable Members | Member | Role | Notes | |---|---|---| | [[Elder Silaqui Amastacia]] | Meridian | The Circle's leader; rarely leaves the infirmaries | | [[Elder Pip Glimmermoss]] | Senior Healer | An ancient pixie healer; one of the Circle's most respected members | ## History The Circle of the Dawn is one of Sumara's seven founding orders, its origins contemporary with the city itself, long established in the Luminary Canton. Working exclusively with the [[Faewild]]'s botanical sources across millennia, the Circle built expertise in that volatile environment that no other healing tradition can match. The Circle has remained outside the political tensions that quietly divide the other six Circles. While the [[Circle of the Blade]] accrued de facto authority in the royal line's absence and others aligned or resisted, the Dawn simply continued its work. ## [[The Bloody Nails|Campaign: The Bloody Nails]] #### [[Session 46 - The Shining City]] The party entered [[Sumara, The Shining City|Sumara]] through the Luminary Canton — the Circle of the Dawn's quarter, and the first part of the city they set eyes on. The skyguard in charge sent for [[Elder Pip Glimmermoss]] — a senior healer of the Circle. Pip produced a specialised concoction that reversed the [[Gossamer Dust]] that had de-aged [[Ayana Syndrosa]] into a giggling child, restoring the ancient mage to herself. The revelation of Ayana's identity left the arresting warden ashen-faced and apologetic. #### [[Session 47 - Confluence of the Seven]] At the [[Sumara, The Shining City#The Confluence of the Seven|Confluence of the Seven]], Meridian [[Elder Silaqui Amastacia]] was the first of the uncertain Meridians to engage the party directly — asking them, not Ryo, what kind of person he was. When Berberis answered plainly — *"He does what needs to be done. He keeps his word."* — Silaqui visibly softened. She raised her hand in favour of opening the [[Vault of Memories]], joining [[Illythia Voss]], [[Warden Sylvaris]], Fenian, and Naivara Siannodel in a five-to-two vote.
