Of wood-elf heritage, he knows the roads and trails of [[Valtorra]] like the back of his hand, ranging ahead of the wagons to read the land and keep the convoy clear of danger. Reserved by nature, he is more at ease in the silence of the wilds than in any camp full of people. ## Biography Valen serves as the eyes of the [[Finegolds]] caravan, scouting the route ahead and guiding the company safely along Valtorra's perilous roads. Lean and wiry with the graceful agility of his elven blood, he carries himself with the quiet watchfulness of a hunter, his striking green eyes always reading the treeline. He dresses in simple, muted tones that let him melt into the surrounding wilderness, and he keeps his own counsel — preferring the company of the forest to that of strangers. His woodcraft makes him invaluable on the long hauls between cities, both as a pathfinder and as a provider, and his skills proved their worth when the party joined the caravan as hired guards. Like the rest of the crew, he weathered the tragedy that struck the company in the [[Ancient Woods]] outside [[Farhaven]], where the caravan was ambushed and its members taken captive. ## [[The Bloody Nails|Campaign: The Bloody Nails]] #### [[Session 05 - The Baited Ambush]] Valen ventured into the wilds alongside [[Ryo]] to hunt for the camp, the two scouts returning with a perfectly equal haul after a friendly but competitive contest. #### [[Session 19 - Blood and Sorrow]] Valen was among the [[Finegolds]] held captive by the assassin [[Seraphina]] in the ruins outside [[Farhaven]]. [[Ryo]] freed him during the rescue, and he survived the battle that followed.
