**Illythia Voss** is an elven archmage and the Meridian of [[Circle of the Weave|the Weave]] in [[Sumara, The Shining City|Sumara]], leading her Circle from the sky-facing towers of the [[Sumara, The Shining City#The Etherean Canton — (Weave)|Etherean Canton]]. She assumed command when her predecessor, [[Ayana Syndrosa]], crossed into the Material Plane during the [[Emerald Ceremony]], inheriting both a Circle and a silence she carried for sixty-eight years, until Ayana came home. Tall even for an elf, she wears the deep blue of the Weave in robes cut slightly closer to the body than convention demands, short dark hair shot through with silver, and an arcane focus braided into her hair where others would carry one in hand.
## Biography
Illythia rose through the Circle of the Weave as Ayana Syndrosa's second in command, and in the years they worked together, they grew into something more. When Ayana stepped forward to lead the Emerald Ceremony — the most costly working the Circle had ever attempted — Illythia was the one left behind. She has led the Weave in the years since, navigating a council increasingly shaped by Commander [[Kaelen Vayne]] of the Blade, and learning to hold the Circle's interests with precision and patience.
She is composed in the Confluence chamber, tactical in her alliances, and careful with her public positions. But where [[Ayana Syndrosa]] was measured to the point of stillness, Illythia lets things show — the warmth is closer to the surface, and so is the fire. Composed neutrality, as those who know her well understand, is not the same as absence of conviction.
## [[The Bloody Nails|Campaign: The Bloody Nails]]
#### [[Session 47 - Confluence of the Seven]]
[[Ayana Syndrosa]] led [[The Bloody Nails]] cloaked through the [[Sumara, The Shining City#The Etherean Canton — (Weave)|Etherean Canton]] to the Locus Arcanum. Illythia dismissed her attendants, said nothing until the door was closed, and then delivered nearly seventy years of feeling in a single line: *"Sixty-eight years — and not one message."* A slap. Then, without pause, she pulled Ayana into a kiss. *"I have been furious, terrified, proud and lonely every single day."* Once the accounting was done, she changed Ayana into proper Weave robes and got to work — receiving a full briefing on [[Empress Morganna Eventide|the Empress]], [[Kharazoth the Crimson Shadow]], and the [[Red Priests]]. The name Kharazoth shook her; she recognised it from the original Chaos Wars, and had believed him long dead. When [[Ryo]] silently turned his hand to show her the [[Silmara Family|Silmara]] signet ring, her composure cracked entirely: *"Your parents were [[Ratha Silmara|Ratha]] and [[Rhennaya Silmara|Rhennaya]]. When were you born? How do you exist?"*
At the [[Sumara, The Shining City#The Confluence of the Seven|Confluence of the Seven]], she maintained the appearance of neutrality for as long as it was tactically useful. When Justiciar Naivara invoked Article 7 of the Accords — no living witness, no documentation, no legal standing — Illythia answered with Article 12: the [[Vault of Memories]] is a recognised verification mechanism within the Accords. Naivara went pale and could not refute it. The vote to open the Vault passed five to two; [[Kaelen Vayne]] walked out across his light-bridge without a word. Before the party descended, Illythia took a moment to speak to them quietly: *"There is something of great importance in the depths. You'll know it when you find it. Come back."*
#### [[Session 49 - The Silver Sage]]
Illythia appeared briefly in a sending from [[Ayana Syndrosa]] — a soft blue orb that unfolded into a flickering hologram, with Illythia visible in frame long enough to offer a small wave before the message continued.
#### [[Session 50 - A New Morning in Sumara]]
With the immediate crisis resolved, the party returned to the Locus Arcanum to find [[Ayana Syndrosa]] reclined in a chair in a dressing gown, a glass of wine in hand — the look of a woman who had been on edge for nearly seventy years and had finally set the weight down. Illythia was in the kitchen, making breakfast. When Ayana joked about raiding the Ironsward for griffins to spite [[Kaelen Vayne]], she mock-deferred to Illythia — who heard every word from the other room and called out, flatly: *"Yep. I heard that."*
#### [[Session 51 - The Last Light]]
On the party's final morning in [[Sumara, The Shining City|Sumara]], Illythia shared fae [[Joffee|joffee]] with the group at the [[Locus Arcanum]] and agreed to bring the question of [[Eirieneth Silmara|Eirieneth]]'s captivity — and the matter of her [[Silmara Family|Silmara]] line — before the next [[Sumara, The Shining City#The Confluence of the Seven|Confluence]] on [[Ayana Syndrosa|Ayana]]'s behalf. She arranged griffin-riders of the mage guard to ferry [[The Bloody Nails]] toward the Mnemorium Canton, where their research into the [[Vale of Eternal Night|Vale]] would begin.
#### [[Session 56 - Homecomings and Farewells]]
Illythia came down to the [[Royal Citadel]] with [[Ayana Syndrosa|Ayana]] and [[Kaelen Vayne|Kaelen]] as Ayana's backup, and wove with her the ward against scrying behind which [[Ryo]] told them of [[Mirileth|the Star-Veiled Queen]]. She allowed herself a chuckle at seeing Kaelen put in his place. She brought the party news of the Confluence: the Council had agreed something must be done for [[Eirieneth Silmara|Eirieneth]], and had consented to unlock the record of the [[Emerald Ceremony]]'s anonymous agents — a record she controls as Meridian of the [[Locus Arcanum]] — so that she might find agents in Val Luminor to help free her. On whether the elves should return to the world in force, she counselled a slower start, warning there would be no going back and that the Empire would know at once: *"The question is when and how we start it."* She took [[Dondar]] to learn the Locus's teleportation circle, then stood at the [[World Gates|World Gate]] holding Ayana's hand to the last. She bade her keep in contact this time, wiped away a tear once she was gone, reminded Ryo the elves would need him to send more through, and teleported back to the Locus for a drink.
#### [[Session 57 - On the Eve of Hell]]
Still red-eyed after [[Ayana Syndrosa|Ayana]]'s departure, Illythia received [[Kai]], [[Dondar]] and [[Eryndor]] in her chambers in the [[Locus Arcanum]]. Asked to check Kai for curses from the hag arms, she touched his forehead, recoiled in mock horror and made him gulp scalding tea, then confessed the only curse was that he worried too much. She recounted the Confluence: swayed by signs of the Worldbreaker's return, the rising human rebellion and a royal held by the Empress, the Council had opened the ledger of the [[Emerald Ceremony]], and she gave the party its first name, Theradin, undercover in Val Luminor as Tobin Ashe. She advised against contacting him by magic except as a last resort, declined to name a dwarven operative without the Council, admired the party's crystal ball, and judged [[Ymrageth's Grimoire]] a spellbook in dream script that Dondar could learn at no more than an hour a day.
