Cold-eyed, dark-haired, and unhurried in her movements, she was the kind of woman who was easy to overlook until it was too late — and the Empire preferred it that way. ## Biography Seraphina operated as a covert agent of the [[Eye of the Empire]], trained to move through the world without drawing attention. Her preferred method was disguise: she boarded the prison ship sailing from [[Val Noren]] toward [[Skyreach]] posing as a [[Hand of the Empire]], passing among the imperial escort as just another officer. Her true purpose was surveillance — monitoring the prisoners, cataloguing threats, and ensuring that nothing and no one slipped loose from the Empire's grasp unnoticed — in particular [[Vaeleran]]. When the storm struck and [[The Bloody Nails]] escaped the sinking ship, Seraphina's quiet assignment became a manhunt. She tracked the party through months of indirection, eventually working her way to [[The Finegolds]] — the merchant caravan that had first sheltered the fugitives. She used [[Lilliana Featherfoot]] to lure the party into a trap in the ruins outside [[Farhaven]], taking the caravan hostage to guarantee their arrival. She came within a blade's breadth of succeeding. The ambush opened with devastating precision: a poisoned dagger that dropped [[Vaeleran]] before he knew she was there. But the party rallied, and as she attempted to vanish beneath the cover of a smoke bomb, Vaeleran — revived and furious — caught her with an attack of opportunity. She did not survive the blow. On her body the party found a red-lined black cloak, later identified as a magical *Cloak of Protection*. Sewn into it was a sealed blood-paper note — a communication device keyed to an unknown handler, hinting at connections within the [[Eye of the Empire|Eyes of the Empire]] that ran deeper than a single field operative. ### [[The Bloody Nails|Campaign: The Bloody Nails]] #### [[Session 01 - The Rusty Nail]] Seraphina was present on the prison ship from [[Val Noren]], concealed among the imperial escort as a Hand of the Empire. She observed the party during their captivity. #### [[Session 19 - Blood and Sorrow]] Seraphina orchestrated an ambush in the ruins of [[Farhaven]], holding [[The Finegolds]] captive and forcing [[Lilliana Featherfoot]] to send a false summons to lure the party. She struck first, instantly incapacitating [[Vaeleran]] with a poisoned dagger. When the tide turned, she deployed a smoke bomb and attempted to flee, but Vaeleran landed a killing blow. Her cloak and a sealed blood-paper were recovered from her body.
