Despite advancing age and failing health, he never stopped looking. ## Biography Jarek lived in the [[Whispering Woods]] with Eirieneth and their young son Eryndor before the Empire's shadow fell across [[Valtorra]]. When Imperial forces took Eirieneth, he searched for her fruitlessly for years, finding nothing. It was in the aftermath of that loss that he found the [[Order of Ravens]] — or they found him. He joined as a thief and operative, using every contact and connection the network could offer in the hope of tracking her down, and proved able enough that the work left its marks on him. The second blow came during a heist gone wrong: Jarek was captured by Imperial soldiers, separated from his son and fellow Ravens. He kept his silence under interrogation, gave up nothing, and eventually broke free — only to return to the nest and learn that Eryndor had not come back either. With the bodies of two other Ravens found but no sign of his boy, Jarek spent years watching Imperial garrisons for any hint of his son's fate. None came. Years of grief settled over him like a second cloak. He never gave up, but for a long stretch he had very little hope to sustain him. Hope returned late. He heard rumours that elves were being kept prisoner in the dungeons beneath [[Val Luminor]], and with them the possibility that Eirieneth might still be alive and within reach. The Ravens, long expelled from the capital and wary of exposure, were reluctant to mount an operation there. Jarek was too old to attempt it himself. By the time he surfaced in [[Val Miriel]], he was a man running on borrowed time, kept upright by the single unfinished piece of his life. ### [[The Bloody Nails|Campaign: The Bloody Nails]] #### [[Session 21 - The Governor's Daughter]] Jarek appeared at the party's table in the [[River's Watch]] tavern — an elderly stranger making cheerful small talk and pointedly ignoring [[Kai]]'s attempt to spike his drink. He identified himself to [[Eryndor]] by throwing a puzzle cube at him without warning, then drew his son aside for a private reunion by the river. He told Eryndor what he had pieced together about Eirieneth's possible imprisonment in [[Val Luminor]], warned the party of the Eyes of the Empire, and slipped away into the night. #### [[Session 23 - Ruby Falls Goldmine]] After the chaos of the explosion at Serenity Plaza, [[Trak Aeris]] pulled Eryndor aside and led him to the hidden Ravens' sanctuary beneath [[The Gilded Crow]]. Jarek was found there, collapsed from exhaustion. Father and son shared a brief, emotional conversation at his bedside — Jarek passing on a final lead, a Raven contact in [[Val Luminor]] who believed elves were being held in the city's dungeons.
