Ancient and hunched, with a long white beard and ceremonial white robes, he carries the bearing of a man who has tended the same sacred fire for longer than most can remember — and the quiet burden of a truth that could unravel the faith he has spent his life preserving. ## Biography Oldir stands at the apex of the official religious hierarchy centred on [[The High Sept]], where the seven gods of the realm's dominant pantheon are venerated and their rites maintained. What sets him apart from the priests below him is a secret passed down through each generation's line of succession: the celebrated Seven Gods are not true gods at all, but ancient mortal champions who ascended and were worshipped until the memory of the real divine faded. The true gods — among them [[Selûne]], Goddess of the Moon — are older and greater, and Oldir has spent his life holding this heresy in careful silence, sharing it with no one, refusing as a matter of strict principle to ever express preference for any of the seven. To do so, he knows, would be to play a part in a lie he can only observe, never endorse. ### [[The Bloody Nails|Campaign: The Bloody Nails]] #### [[Session 20 - The Streets of Val Miriel]] When [[Kai]] visited The High Sept and revealed the starry markings on his arms, Oldir drew him into a private chamber and, visibly shaken, disclosed the long-kept heresy — that the Seven Gods are false idols, ascended champions whose worship buried the memory of the true gods. He identified Kai as having been touched by [[Selûne]] herself, and warned that Selûne's dark sister, the Lady of Vengeance, had also taken notice of him. #### [[Session 26 - A Midnight Romp]] Oldir confronted Kai and his companion after they infiltrated The High Sept under cover of a *Fog Cloud* during the city lockdown. He refused Kai's request to perform a ceremony attuning the temple's clerics to Selûne, troubled by the black stars visible in Kai's Starry Form — a mark he recognised as the influence of the Dark Sister. After Kai produced a moonstone that matched a gem in the altar of [[Elaris Moonsong - Restricted]], Oldir's scepticism broke. He acknowledged Kai as a potential, if corrupted, Chosen, sheltered the pair for the night, and urged Kai to walk the path of light to purge the darkness taking hold of him. #### [[Session 49 - The Silver Sage]] Oldir was referenced in passing during Kai's consultation with Praetor, who confirmed that Oldir holds one of the three moonstones at The High Sept of [[Val Miriel]] — a key piece in the prophecy of Selûne's Chosen.
