The sister of [[Rhennaya Silmara]] and mother of [[Eryndor]], she was taken by the [[Valtorran Empire|Empire]] and is currently presumed held prisoner in [[Val Luminor]]. ## Description #### Appearance Eirieneth has long black hair, pale skin, and striking green eyes that tend to fix on whoever she is speaking to with complete attention — a habit that her human neighbours once found unnerving, though they grew to love it. Her black hair is not the colour she was born to: by birth it was the classic Silmara silver, and she had it magically altered with the help of [[Ayana Syndrosa]] — a glamour Eirieneth adopted so that she would not stand out so sharply when she went to live among humans. She dressed in the practical clothes of the villages she wandered rather than elven finery, a choice that was never affectation but simple preference: she wanted to belong to the world she had chosen. #### Personality Where most elves held humanity at arm's length, Eirieneth was drawn toward it with an almost scholarly wonder. She was endlessly curious about human customs, the speed of human grief and joy, the way short lives seemed to crowd everything into bright, urgent moments. She is deeply kind, particularly to those outside her own kind, and her warmth is not the studied diplomacy of a noblewoman but something plainly felt. She loved [[Jarek]] and [[Eryndor]] with the entirety of herself, and it was that love — not politics, not principle — that kept her in [[Valtorra]] when the elves withdrew. ## Biography #### Background Eirieneth was born into the [[Silmara Family]], the royal bloodline of the Sumaran elves and one of the most ancient lines in [[Valtorra]]. She grew up surrounded by the customs and insularity of elven society, and found herself quietly at odds with both. While her sister [[Rhennaya Silmara]] would go on to lead their people with grace and pragmatism, Eirieneth drifted outward — spending time in human villages and the forests between them, learning the textures of lives very different from her own. She became convinced that the elves were too withdrawn, too ellusive, and that the peoples of Valtorra were stronger together than apart. It was during her wandering that she met [[Jarek]], a human she fell in love with wholly and without reservation. Despite the disapproval of her family, she left the royal household behind and settled with him in the [[Whispering Woods]], some two hundred miles south of Silverdeep, where their son [[Eryndor]] was born. For a time they lived quietly and well. When the [[Valtorran Empire|Empire]] rose and the elves began to withdraw from Valtorra, Eirieneth pleaded with her sister to stay and stand alongside the other peoples of the continent. Her plea went unheeded. She stayed anyway, unwilling to abandon the life she had built. She was taken by the Empire while [[Eryndor]] was still a young child, vanishing from the [[Whispering Woods]] without trace. For years her fate was unknown — to her son, to [[Jarek]], and to the wider world. It was not until long after the exodus that intelligence surfaced suggesting she is held prisoner in [[Val Luminor]], the Empire's seat of power. ### [[The Bloody Nails|Campaign: The Bloody Nails]] #### [[Session 21 - The Governor's Daughter]] [[Jarek]] revealed to [[Eryndor]] that he believes Eirieneth may be imprisoned in [[Val Luminor]], sharing what he had pieced together from his own years of searching. #### [[Session 46 - The Shining City]] [[Ayana Syndrosa]] made a connection that no one in the party had seen: Eirieneth was the sister of [[Rhennaya Silmara]], making [[Eryndor]] and [[Ryo]] first cousins — and both carriers of the [[Silmara Family|Silmara]] royal blood. The revelation shook both young men to their foundations. #### [[Session 49 - The Silver Sage]] [[Eryndor]] named rescuing his mother from the Empress's tower in [[Val Luminor]] as his driving purpose — and admitted, quietly, that he had given up hope before the events of recent sessions had reignited it.
