He commanded the prison ship tasked with transporting condemned prisoners from [[Val Noren]] south to the labour camps of [[Skyreach]] — a voyage that ended violently when a storm claimed both the ship and the man overseeing it. ## Biography Coldsteel was an imposing figure: broad-shouldered and scarred, with icy blue eyes that carried the particular coldness of a man accustomed to absolute authority. He wore the steel-crested helmet and dark red cloak of the [[Hand of The Empire]], emblems of an order that answered directly to imperial command. His manner was measured and contemptuous, his speech precise — the voice of someone who had spent decades reminding others of their place. He was assigned to oversee a prisoner transport sailing from [[Val Noren]] toward [[Darmouth]], carrying a group of individuals destined for the labour camp at [[Skyreach]]. Among those prisoners were the people who would eventually come to be known as [[The Bloody Nails]]. Coldsteel's authority over the vessel was total — until the storm struck. ### [[The Bloody Nails|Campaign: The Bloody Nails]] #### [[Session 01 - The Rusty Nail]] Coldsteel was killed when a bolt of lightning struck him as he made his way to the upper deck during the storm. His body fell just beyond the reach of the cells, but the key he carried survived the fall — and it was that key which allowed the prisoners to begin their escape.
