A cloth merchant by trade who once made the winter crossing of the [[Frostway]] to trade at [[Point Blackrock]], she was drawn — almost accidentally — into something far larger than herself on one such crossing, and found she could not turn away from it. ## Biography Alyn was an unremarkable seller of garments from the outer quarters of Val Noren, known more for her easy good nature and relentless curiosity than any particular faith. Each winter, when the [[Frostway]] froze solid across the spine of islands between the mainland and Noren Island, she would make the week-long crossing to Point Blackrock to trade garments with merchants and travellers, staying through the cold season before the thaw drove her home. When Imperial forces tightened their grip on Point Blackrock and refugees flooded the Frostway, she was simply one more person trying to get back to Val Noren. It was there, in the teeth of a storm, that a cleric named [[Kai]] gathered the refugees and called for anyone who would attend a ceremony of dedication to the moon goddess. Most kept walking. Alyn stopped. She was the only one who did, and she witnessed a spectral manifestation of [[Selûne]] herself descend to receive her. Overwhelmed and frightened, she pledged herself without fully understanding what she was pledging. By her own later admission, she understood it perfectly. She now lives and studies at [[St. Avelines]] in Val Noren, one of the first acolytes in a faith being quietly rebuilt from nothing. ### [[The Bloody Nails|Campaign: The Bloody Nails]] #### [[Session 34 - Mourning Bells]] Among the refugees crossing the Frostway from Point Blackrock, Alyn was the sole volunteer for Kai's Ceremony of Dedication. The ritual summoned a spectral vision of Selûne, and a frightened but resolute Alyn became the goddess's first new acolyte. #### [[Session 43 - The Shield of the North]] Kai and [[Eryndor]] visited [[St. Avelines]] to meet Alyn and Brother Callum. When the holy smith Helda later forged the [[Moonlit Aegis]] from metal purified by Kai's faith, Alyn contributed a moonstone that slotted magnetically into the finished shield — imbuing it with the power to blind those who strike its bearer. #### [[Session 44 - The Elven Archmage]] During a period of downtime in Val Noren, Kai devoted his time to the Cathedral of St. Avalines, continuing Alyn's instruction in the rites and lore of Selûne alongside the other new acolytes.
